Lariat Rituals

Lariat Rituals is a real-time performance composition for Kyma, Max, and Gametrak controller. A lariat is a long light rope with a running noose used by American cowboys to catch cattle. Some cowboys get so good at using the lariat that they can perform tricks. The physical Gametrak interface has two ropes of sorts – nylon cables that are like fishing lines. Through my manipulations of the cables’ positions, I create a ritual of mysterious movement that begins slowly, develops, and ultimately culminates in an ecstatic conclusion.
